Filing Form 27EQ is a mandatory compliance requirement under the TDS/TCS provisions, and failure to file it correctly can attract penalties.

Form 27EQ is a quarterly statement that must be filed by entities who have collected TCS (Tax Collected at Source) under Section 206C of the Income Tax Act. It includes details of:

TCS rates and amounts

PAN of deductees

Payment challan details
Form 27EQ applies to corporates, government offices, and non-government deductors collecting TCS on transactions such as sale of alcohol, scrap, minerals, motor vehicles, foreign remittance, etc.

Filing deadlines for each quarter of the financial year are as follows:

Prepare the TCS Data
Use Tally, accounting software, or manual records to compile:-
Buyer details with PAN

TCS section, amount collected

Challan number and BSR code

Download and Install RPU & FVU
Get the Return Preparation Utility (RPU) and File Validation Utility (FVU) from https://tin.tin.nsdl.com -
Fill in Form 27EQ in RPU
Enter deductor details, challan info, TCS collection details, and validate the file using FVU. -
Login to TRACES or TIN NSDL
Submit the validated FVU file either via:-
https://www.tdscpc.gov.in (TRACES)

Verify Using DSC or EVC
Digital Signature (DSC) or Electronic Verification Code (EVC) is needed for online filing. -
Download Form 27EQ Acknowledgment
Once submitted, you’ll receive a 15-digit provisional receipt number. Keep this for your records.

Late Filing Fee (Section 234E): โน200 per day (max TCS amount)
